Want to Model? Here's your starting point...

I love all the questions I have been getting about how to begin your modeling careers! It makes me so happy to see so many girls chasing their dreams and goals!

The MOST IMPORTANT way to start is to find an agency that works for you, and here's how:

1. You must prepare an outfit and makeup for an OPEN CALL.

Open call's are certain time periods an agency holds in which aspiring models are able to walk into the agency, meet the agents, and potentially get signed on the spot.  You will need to dress in a simple outfit.  No crazy patterns, baggy clothing, or big jewelry please! This will only distract the agent from your beauty! I recommend just wearing a fitted, neutral colored tank top and jean shorts/pants.  Remember, they want to see the shape of your body, so don't hide it with clothing.  If you are 5'7'' or taller, they WILL ask you to walk (runway that is) so please come wearing heels that you know you can walk in very well! **Also bring a bikini!

Your makeup should be very natural.  If you look fine without makeup, go in with just mascara.  Literally, the less the better.  These agents are professionals, so they'll imagine all different kind of looks for you.  You just need to walk in with the blank canvas.  With one of my previous agencies, I went in the day of the open call with no make-up and they transformed me that very same day.  I went to the hair salon across the street to change my hair, got my eyebrows done, and they told me how to do my makeup! So don't worry about it, all they want to see is potential.

2. Be Photo Ready!

Bring 1 page with 4 photos on it: a serious headshot, a smiling headshot, 3/4 body shot, and a full length in a bikini shot.  Very, very little makeup in the photos. Wear simple clothing, and black or solid colored basic bikini.  Contact me at www.facebook.com/nataliepackphotography if you want me to get you photo ready!

3. State your stats.

On the back of the same page with the photos, write the following:

Name, age, height, bust size(inches), waist size(inches), hips size(inches), eye color, hair color, phone number

Ex. Natalie Pack, 23
      5'11.5''
      33-24-35
      Eyes: Hazel
      Hair: Lt. Brown
      (310) ***-****

Please don't lie girls, because if they are interested in you, they will measure you there!

4. ATTEND the open call.

5. Good luck Ladies!!!

You are all beautiful inside and out, so even if the agency of your choice decides you're not right for them at this time, you can always try again next year! Go in confident, willing, excited, and most of all, HUMBLE!

If they offer you a contract:

Don't sign with the first agency you meet, YET! Go meet all the ones listed, and then decide.  You never know who will be your best match until you have met all the different agents.  Congrats!!!!

Some tips if you don't get signed:

If they tell you you're too commercial: You need to edge-up your look.  Get a cool haircut, change your hair color, wear different clothes.  Maybe dramatize your eyes with a little makeup.

If they say you're not right for them: Move on, for now.  Try again next year.  Sometimes it takes time for baby fat to leave your face defined...just give it time! Don't give up!

If they say they will contact you within 2 weeks: USUALLY this means they weren't interested, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try again in the future. Sometimes they will return your call and ask you to come in again.  It can really go either way, so keep your fingers crossed!

XOXO
Nat
